More recently Nicola has spent time managing a project for a local charity.  This project is for children and young people aged 5 - 16.  The children and young people referred need support to build confidence, develop social skills, experience new things and have fun!  Nicola supports children and their families by arranging activities to support and encourage positive development in the identified target areas.  This role also requires Nicola to run a weekly youth club, alongside this she has developed and delivered peer mentoring courses for young people to enable them to gain new skills, help others and gain qualifications.

Alongside her employment Nicola has successfully completed various courses which have focused on education and Social Work.  Nicola has had oppurtunities to gain further learning and academic knowledge by undertaking Social Work degree level placements.  Nicola completed work placements with the family team at a national and reputable homeless and housing charity.  Nicola has also worked for a local project that focused on supporting young people intensively who were involved in or at risk of becoming involved in anti-social behaviour, crime, extremist groupsor who were social or academically excluded.
